Sunrise over Cornwall

Our Vision

Our vision:
A Christ-centred, Bible-teaching, people-loving church for every community in Cornwall and Devon

We are:
A partnership of local Christians with a shared vision
A network of local churches, promoting the gospel, sharing good practice, facilitating training
Affiliated to Affinity and in close contact with other regional Gospel Partnerships

We believe that:
The heart of the gospel ministry is the proclamation of Christ crucified

The means of the gospel ministry is the prayerful teaching of the Bible
The focus of the gospel ministry is the local church

We aim to:
Strengthen existing local churches and encourage them to contend for Biblical Christianity
Train members of existing congregations for a wide range of Bible-teaching gospel ministries
Encourage suitably gifted men and women to consider going into full-time gospel ministry
Promote schemes for ministry trainees (apprentices)
Stimulate or plant congregations in areas where gospel ministry is weak or non-existent

The Peninsula Gospel Partnership (PGP) brings together Christians, from different denominations, who long to see a Christ-centred, Bible-teaching, people-loving church for every community in Cornwall and Devon. By working together through a network of local churches, PGP enables and encourages churches to share good practice and provides opportunities to facilitate ministry training by identifying areas for development and invigorating or creating much needed ministries. PGP is unashamedly evangelical and is affiliated to Affinity (a church-centred partnership for Bible-centred Christianity) and shares its doctrinal basis. The Peninsula Gospel Partnership is in close contact with other regional Gospel Partnerships across the country.

The message of the cross is God’s way of saving people from his coming wrath and, therefore, proclaiming this message is vitally important. It is as the Bible is taught in the power of the Holy Spirit that God’s voice is heard. It is primarily through the local church that unbelievers are brought to faith in Christ and believers are built up in him.

It is no secret that many local churches are weak and their members can be discouraged. Even when buildings are kept open the authentic challenge of the gospel can be lost. PGP believes that people can be drawn from local congregations and trained as Bible teachers for ministry and service in the local churches. Those with suitable gifts can be encouraged to consider going on into full-time ministry and a particular kind of training (an ‘apprenticeship’) can be offered for ministry trainees. In communities where gospel ministry is weak or non-existent PGP, through its network of local churches, can help support, stimulate or plant congregations with a gospel ministry.
